Carol Jaeger

Carol Jaeger is a Professor of Teaching in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The University of British Columbia. She serves as the Associate Dean, Undergraduate Engineering Programs, for the Faculty of Applied Science. Jaeger holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Physics, Electrical Engineering option, from Queen’s University and a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from UBC. She has been a faculty member since 2003 and became a Professor of Teaching in 2016. Her teaching includes courses such as Circuit Analysis, Engineering Electromagnetics, and Biomedical Engineering Instrumentation. Her research interests span circuits and electronics, electromagnetics, signal processing, and biomedical engineering.

Carol Jaeger is a researcher at the University of British Columbia, focusing on enhancing engineering education through innovative teaching methods and curriculum design. Her work explores how first-year engineering students select specializations and how institutions can better support them. She has developed interactive online tools, such as an ethics scenario activity and peer assessment systems, to improve student engagement and learning outcomes. Jaeger also emphasizes the integration of problem-solving skills and real-world applications in courses, such as using assistive technology projects to teach CAD and rapid prototyping. Her research highlights the importance of active learning, team-based problem solving, and the use of technology in education.
