Jennifer Kao

Jennifer Kao is an Assistant Professor of Strategy at the UCLA Anderson School of Management. She co-teaches business strategy to MBA students. Her research studies the relationship between firm strategies and innovation outcomes in the health care sector. She uses quantitative methods to examine the strategic decisions of research organizations to acquire, integrate, and disclose information. A second strand of work investigates how organizations adapt their R&D and market entry decisions in response to regulation. Kao received her Ph.D. in public policy from Harvard, where she was a National Bureau of Economic Research Predoctoral Fellow in the Economics of Health and Aging and the International Network on the Value of Medical Research. She holds a B.S. in business administration from UC Berkeley and M.Sc. in economics from the London School of Economics. Her research has been funded by the Society of Hellman Fellows and the National Institute of Health Care Management Foundation.
