Brian Wheaton

Brian Wheaton is an Assistant Professor of Global Economics and Management at the University of California, Los Angeles, Anderson School of Management. His research focuses on political economy, cultural economics, and macroeconomics, with an emphasis on how culture shapes economic and political outcomes. Wheaton's work examines the effects of laws on public beliefs, including backlash against major U.S. social policy laws. He also explores topics such as school corporal punishment, political polarization, and the macroeconomic impacts of tax reforms. Wheaton joined the UCLA Anderson faculty in 2022 and previously served as a fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University in 2021.
