John Carlson, Ph.D., is the Eugene Higgins Professor of Molecular, Cellular & Developmental Biology at Yale University. He received an A.B. from Harvard and a Ph.D. from Stanford, both in biochemistry. His research focuses on receptors, neurons, and circuits underlying olfaction, taste, and pheromone recognition in Drosophila and disease-spreading insects. His laboratory has made significant advances, including the discovery of the first insect odor and taste receptors.
