Shirin Bahmanyar

Shirin Bahmanyar is an Associate Professor of Molecular, Cellular & Developmental Biology with Tenure at Yale University. She is affiliated with the Department of BIO and serves as Co-Director of Culture & Inclusive Excellence, MCGD. Her research focuses on organelle structure and dynamics, particularly the nucleus and its unique structure during cellular processes such as cell division and embryonic development. She investigates the nuclear envelope and its role in nuclear dynamics, using high-resolution quantitative fluorescence time-lapse microscopy and genetic tools in C. elegans and mammalian cells. Her work addresses the role of nuclear envelope-associated proteins in human genetic disorders called envelopathies.
