Mariano P. Consens

Mariano P. Consens is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering at the University of Toronto. His research focuses on Information Engineering and Applied Machine Learning. He holds a PhD and MSc in Computer Science from the University of Toronto, as well as a Computer Systems Engineer degree from the Universidad de la Republica, Uruguay. Professor Consens has been a faculty member at the University of Toronto since 2003 and has over 60 publications. He has also worked as a research faculty member at the University of Waterloo and has been involved in the software industry as a founder, director, and CTO of start-ups.

Mariano P. Consens is a faculty member at the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (MIE) and Computer Science (CS) at the University of Toronto, specializing in Data Management. His research focuses on the design and implementation of systems for querying, visualizing, and managing complex data structures. He has contributed to the development of visual query systems such as GraphLog and Hy+, which support recursive and structural queries. His work also includes the optimization of queries on files, XML, and relational databases, as well as the integration of text and relational data management systems. Consens has explored the use of summary-based techniques for exploring linked open data and has applied data-driven methods to predict blast-induced outcomes in mining operations.
