Samin Aref

Samin Aref is an Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream in Data Science at the University of Toronto Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering. His research areas include Operations Research, Applied Machine Learning, and Information Engineering. Prof. Aref holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Auckland and an MSc in Industrial Engineering from Sharif University of Technology. Prior to joining the University of Toronto, he worked as a research scientist and research area chair at the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research. He has developed four new courses and teaches over 700 students annually. Prof. Aref has delivered over 90 invited talks and authored more than 30 papers in reputable journals and conference proceedings.
