Regular biography
Sonja Mapes is an Associate Professor of Instruction in the Causeway Program at Northwestern University's Department of Mathematics. She received her PhD from Columbia University in 2009 and held a postdoctoral position at Duke University before joining the faculty at Notre Dame from 2012 to 2022. She joined Northwestern University in 2022. Her research focuses on monomial ideals and combinatorics. In 2009, she was awarded the Columbia University Presidential Teaching Award.
