Regular biography
Christopher Hearty is a Professor/IPP Scientist at The University of British Columbia, affiliated with the Department of PHY. His research focuses on Particle and Nuclear Physics, particularly in the areas of Subatomic Physics and the Belle II experiment. He is involved in direct searches for new physics in e+ e- collisions, dark sector studies, and light Higgs research. Hearty has contributed to several significant publications, including work on invisible and displaced dark matter signatures and searches for an invisibly decaying Z' boson. His research also includes collaborations with the BaBar and T2K experiments. Hearty's academic background includes a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics and Physics from Simon Fraser University and a Doctoral Degree from the University of Washington. He has held positions such as Postdoctoral researcher at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and has been recognized as an APS Fellow and recipient of the 2016 Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics.
