Michael A. Lieberman

Michael A. Lieberman is a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at the University of California, Berkeley. His research focuses on Power and Energy (ENE) and Plasma-assisted materials processing. Lieberman received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from MIT in 1962 and his Ph.D. degree from MIT in 1966. He joined UC Berkeley in 1966 and was recognized with the UC Berkeley Distinguished Teaching Award in 1971. He was a Guggenheim Fellow during 1972-3 and has been honored with several awards, including the IEEE Plasma Science and Applications Award in 1995 and the von Engel Prize in 2005. His work includes co-authoring books on plasma discharges and materials processing, as well as research in nonlinear dynamics with Prof. A.J. Lichtenberg.
