Regular biography
Edward L. Keller is a Professor Emeritus in the EECS Department at the University of California, Berkeley. He received his BS degree in Engineering Science from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1961 and his Ph.D. in Bioengineering from Johns Hopkins University in 1971. He joined the EECS Department faculty in 1971 and held various leadership roles, including chairing the campus Engineering Science Program and the Joint UC Berkeley/UC San Francisco Graduate Group in Bioengineering. His research focuses on understanding how the brain processes sensory inputs to generate motor behavior, with a particular emphasis on the saccadic system. Keller is a Fellow of the IEEE and has contributed to numerous publications in neuroscience and biomedical engineering.
