Zaijun Chen

Zaijun Chen is an Assistant Professor in the Department of EECS at the University of California, Berkeley. His research spans Physical Electronics, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Architecture & Engineering, Information, Data, Network, and Communication Sciences, and Integrated Circuits. Chen received his Ph.D. in Physics from the Max-Planck Institute of Quantum Optics and the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich in 2019. He was a postdoctoral fellow in the Quantum Photonics Group at MIT, where he worked on photonic AI accelerators and neuromorphic devices. He is a principle investigator for the DARPA NaPSAC program and co-PI for the DARPA INSPIRED program. His research interests include integrated photonics, co-packaged optics, and AI processors.

His research bridges the gap between optical physics and computational systems, aiming to enhance the performance and efficiency of photonic devices.
