Yoonsung Nam is a researcher at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) with a focus on the development of biodegradable polymeric materials and their applications in biomedical engineering. Their work includes the fabrication of macroporous and microcellular foams using techniques such as thermally induced phase separation and gas foaming salt as a porogen additive. Nam also explores the use of biodegradable polymers for drug delivery, including the preparation of protein-loaded microspheres and the conjugation of drugs to poly (D, L-lactic-co-glycolic acid) for controlled release. Additionally, they investigate functional nanostructures for RNA delivery and the creation of optically traceable nanoparticles for synergistic chemotherapy. Their research also extends to the development of microfluidic systems and the surface modification of biodegradable polymers for cell culture applications.
