Seung-Jae V. Lee

Seung-Jae V. Lee is a Professor and Head of Department at the Department of BIO, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). His research interests include Genetics, Immunology, Neuroscience, aging, longevity, and the use of C. elegans as a model organism. Seung-Jae V. Lee's research focuses on the mechanisms underlying aging and longevity, with a particular emphasis on the model organism Caenorhabditis elegans. His work explores the genetic and molecular pathways that regulate lifespan, including the roles of mitochondria, RNA, and insulin/IGF-1 signaling. Lee investigates how environmental factors, such as respiration inhibition and glucose levels, influence aging processes and healthspan. His studies also examine the interplay between reactive oxygen species, HIF-1 activity, and AMPK in mediating longevity. Additionally, he develops computational tools like OASIS for analyzing lifespan data in aging research.
