Ki-Jun Yoon

Ki-Jun Yoon is an Assistant Professor in the BIO department at KAIST. His research focuses on Developmental Biology, Neuroscience, Stem Cell biology, and Brain Disease. The Yoon lab investigates neural stem cells in development and disease, exploring how these cells are specified, migrate, and organize during brain development. The lab's work aims to understand the mechanisms underlying neural connectivity and its implications for brain disorders.

Ki-Jun Yoon is a researcher at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) specializing in Developmental Neuroscience and Stem Cell Biology. His work focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying neural development, particularly in the context of cortical neurogenesis and synaptic function. Yoon's research explores how factors such as m6A methylation, adherens junction proteins, and Notch signaling regulate neural stem cell behavior and differentiation. He has developed brain-region-specific organoids using mini-bioreactors to model viral infections like Zika virus and its impact on neural development. His studies also include the role of Mind bomb 1 and other E3 ligases in Notch signaling, as well as the epitranscriptomic regulation of neural progenitor competence.
