Zengyi CHANG is a Professor at Peking University, School of Life Sciences, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. His research focuses on the functions and mechanisms of proteins such as molecular chaperones and proteases in protein quality control under stress conditions and during biogenesis, particularly membrane proteins like ATP synthase. He has published over 80 papers since becoming an independent PI in China. CHANG received his B.S. in Biology from East China Normal University and his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Baylor College of Medicine. He has held academic positions at Tsinghua University and Peking University, where he currently serves as the director of the Center for Protein Science. He is also an executive council member of the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and President of the Federation of Asian and Oceanian Biochemists and Molecular Biologists.
