Carlos Ibáñez is a Professor at Peking University's School of Life Sciences, where he leads research in molecular, cellular, and genetic techniques to study growth factors and their receptors. His work focuses on elucidating the functions and mechanisms of these factors, with applications in structural biology, cell signaling, neural development, and metabolic regulation. Ibáñez has pioneered studies on neurotrophins, GDNF ligands, and receptors, identifying novel ligand-receptor interactions and signaling pathways. His research has led to the discovery of new mechanisms in cell-cell interaction and cross-talk between signaling pathways. He has also explored the role of the ALK7 receptor in metabolic regulation and has collaborated with industry to develop therapies for diseases such as peripheral neuropathies and metabolic disorders.
