Regular biography
Yongmei QIN is a Professor at Peking University, School of Life Sciences, Department of BIO. Her research focuses on the biosynthesis of very-long-chain fatty acids (VLCFAs) and their roles in cotton fiber cell elongation. Using molecular and biochemical approaches, her work explores how VLCFAs and related lipids influence plant development. She has investigated the expression of genes involved in VLCFA biosynthesis and their functional characterization through heterologous expression in yeast mutants. Additionally, her research employs high-throughput lipid profiling to analyze the role of phosphatidylinositol (PI) in fiber growth. QIN's findings highlight the importance of VLCFA biosynthesis and lipid signaling in plant biology.
