Regular biography
Kurt Zilm is the William K. Lanman, Jr. Professor of Chemistry at Yale University, affiliated with the Department of Chemistry. His research focuses on Physical Chemistry and Biophysical Chemistry, with an emphasis on developing new NMR methods and their applications in chemistry, materials science, and biology. His work includes studying prion protein (PrP) and its role in Alzheimer’s disease and infectious prion diseases, as well as exploring complex coacervates involving amyloid-beta oligomers. Zilm's research integrates machine learning and advanced NMR techniques to investigate protein structure and dynamics. He is also involved in interdisciplinary collaborations across Yale and Dartmouth medical schools, as well as with instrument companies.
