J. Michael McBride is a Professor Emeritus of Chemistry at Yale University, affiliated with the Department of Chemistry. His research focuses on Organic Chemistry, with an emphasis on physical-organic chemistry to understand and control the chemical reactivity and physical properties of organic solids. His work involves the study of single crystals, utilizing techniques such as x-ray diffraction, low-temperature ESR and FTIR spectroscopy, and atomic force microscopy (AFM). He has contributed to the understanding of reaction mechanisms in crystalline diacyl peroxides and the development of techniques for studying crystal growth. His research has explored the influence of molecular structure on physical properties and the rational design of organic synthesis through crystal assembly.
