Regular biography

J. Patrick Loria is a Professor of Chemistry and of Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry at Yale University, affiliated with the Department of Chemistry. His research focuses on biophysical chemistry, physical chemistry, and chemical biology, with an emphasis on enzyme dynamics and allosteric mechanisms. His work explores how protein flexibility and structural properties influence function, particularly in enzyme catalysis and protein-ligand interactions. Loria's laboratory utilizes solution nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy to study these phenomena at the atomic level. He has been a member of the Yale faculty since 2001 and is associated with the Chemical and Biophysical Instrumentation Center. His research is supported by grants from the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation.
