Nilay Hazari

Nilay Hazari is the Chair and John Randolph Huffman Professor of Chemistry at Yale University, affiliated with the Department of Chemistry. His research focuses on Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Materials Chemistry, with an emphasis on synthetic inorganic and organometallic chemistry, reaction mechanisms, and catalysis. His group develops homogeneous transition metal catalysts for chemical transformations aimed at creating more energy-efficient and affordable industrial processes. Techniques such as multinuclear NMR spectroscopy, X-ray crystallography, and computational chemistry are employed to study reaction mechanisms and design molecular catalysts for applications like CO2 hydrogenation and photoreduction. Hazari also collaborates on projects involving 2D materials and sustainable chemical reactions.
