Regular biography
Kenneth A. Zeger is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of California, San Diego. His research interests include information coding and data compression, information theory, and signal processing, with a focus on image and speech processing. Zeger's work spans coding applications in telephony, imaging, networking, and electronic devices, including source and channel coding, compression, pattern recognition, communication protocols, and computational complexity theory. He has held academic positions at the University of Hawaii, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and UCSD, where he has been a Professor since 1998. Zeger is an IEEE Fellow and has contributed to various IEEE societies and journals.
