Regular biography
Albert P. Pisano is a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (EE) at the University of California, San Diego. His research focuses on micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS), wireless sensors for harsh environments, and low-cost sensor technologies. Pisano is also affiliated with the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. His work includes MEMS for applications such as RF components, power generation, and biosensors, as well as additive manufacturing techniques for MEMS. He has co-authored over 300 publications and holds more than 20 patents. Additionally, he is the co-founder of ten start-up companies and has graduated over 40 Ph.D. and 75 MS students. As Dean of the Jacobs School of Engineering, he oversees strategic planning and programmatic development for the school.
