Paul K. Yu is a Distinguished Professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at the University of California, San Diego. His research focuses on microwave photonics, electronic and opto-electronic devices, and advanced materials for photonic applications. Yu has been working for over two decades on devices that enhance telecommunications network performance, with a current emphasis on transmitting microwave signals through optical fiber to enable faster broadband speeds. He is also involved in the development of state-of-the-art photonic devices such as laser diodes, modulators, and photodetectors.
