Vitaliy Lomakin is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (EE) at the University of California, San Diego. His research focuses on theoretical and computational electromagnetics, including analytical models for electromagnetic phenomena in complex structures, numerical methods for calculating electromagnetic fields, and applications to electromagnetic devices and systems. His work spans wave phenomena, antenna design, and the analysis of complex media. Lomakin has developed numerical techniques for evaluating transient electromagnetic fields and has explored applications in integrated circuits and photonic structures. He joined UCSD in 2005 and teaches core undergraduate courses in electrical engineering and electromagnetics.
