Zhaowei Liu

Zhaowei Liu is a Professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering department at the University of California, San Diego. His research focuses on nanophotonics, plasmonics, nanomaterials, and life science, with an emphasis on interdisciplinary approaches. His work includes the development of novel nanofabrication techniques, bio-photonics, high-speed and high spatial resolution bioimaging and sensing, and light control at the nanoscale using plasmonic structures. Liu's research spans fundamental science exploration, engineering design, and applications in plasmonics and metamaterials. He has contributed to pioneering research in areas such as far-field superlens, optical hyperlens, and tunable plasmonic lens.
