About
Regular biography

Massimo Franceschetti is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of California, San Diego. His research interests include information science of complex networks and systems, with applications to control, computation, communication, and sensing. His work spans algorithms, models of wave propagation, network analysis and design, information theoretic limits, and control technologies. He has applied tools from statistical physics, such as percolation theory, to analyze observable phenomena and random walk theory to describe wireless signal propagation. His recent research focuses on dynamical systems of agents interacting over networks, including studies on social segregation and emotion spreading in online social networks. He is also interested in the intersection of electromagnetic and information theories, as illustrated in his book "Wave Theory of Information," published by Cambridge University Press in 2018.
