Yan Xia

Yan Xia is a Professor of Chemistry at Stanford University in the Department of CHEM. His research focuses on Catalysis, Chemistry-Biology Interface, Materials Chemistry, and Organic Chemistry. Xia's work explores the design and synthesis of exotic small and giant molecules with unusual properties, combining catalysis, organic and polymer chemistry, and advanced characterizations to create novel (macro)molecular structures and organic materials. His research has applications in energy-efficient molecular separations, sustainable plastics, electronics, and therapeutics. Xia studied chemistry at Peking University (B.S. 2002), McMaster University (M.S. 2005), and Caltech (Ph.D. 2010). Following his PhD, he worked at Dow Chemical and MIT before joining Stanford in 2013.
