Chaitan Khosla is the Wells H. Rauser and Harold M. Petiprin Professor and Professor of Chemistry and, by courtesy, of Biochemistry at Stanford University's Department of CHEM. His research interests include Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Chemistry-Biology Interface, and Catalysis. His laboratory focuses on enzymology and metabolism to improve human health, with an emphasis on polyketide synthases and their role in antibiotic biosynthesis. He also investigates celiac disease, particularly the role of transglutaminase 2 in the inflammatory response to dietary gluten. His work involves decoding orphan polyketide assembly lines in sequence databases.
