Regular biography

Justin Du Bois is the Henry Dreyfus Professor of Chemistry and Professor, by courtesy, of Chemical and Systems Biology at Stanford University's Department of Chemistry. His research focuses on catalysis, chemistry-biology interface, and organic chemistry. The Du Bois laboratory develops reaction methods, natural product synthesis, and chemical biology, with an emphasis on C–H bond functionalization and ion channel studies. His work explores the role of ion channels in electrical conduction and pain sensation, utilizing small molecule modulators and toxin synthesis to advance chemical biology tools. The lab also investigates voltage-gated ion channels and their regulation, employing interdisciplinary approaches including molecular biology, electrophysiology, and mass spectrometry.
