Lynette Cegelski

Lynette Cegelski is the Monroe E. Spaght Professor of Chemistry and Professor, by courtesy, of Chemical Engineering at Stanford University's Department of Chemistry. Her research focuses on the Chemistry-Biology Interface and Physical Chemistry, with an emphasis on understanding complex biological systems and their organization. Her work explores the development of new methods and tools to study biological assemblies, including the use of small molecules, fluorescence and electron microscopy, and spectroscopy. She is particularly known for her research on bacterial biofilm formation and the discovery of phosphoethanolamine (pEtN) cellulose. Prior to joining Stanford in 2008, she completed her postdoctoral training at Washington University School of Medicine and earned her Ph.D. from Washington University.
