Leah B. Bushin

Leah B. Bushin is an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Stanford University, affiliated with the Chemistry department. Her research focuses on the Chemistry-Biology Interface and Organic Chemistry. She investigates novel metabolic pathways, enzymes, and bioactive molecules across all kingdoms of life, aiming to discover and produce novel natural products. Her work centers on developing strategies for efficient microbial production of compounds and materials at scale, as well as high-throughput approaches for engineering enzymes to perform synthetic reactions. The Bushin research group seeks to deepen their understanding of cellular metabolism and harness nature’s chemical diversity for drug discovery and synthetic derivatization.
