Seok Yeong-Jae

Seok Yeong-Jae is a Professor in the School of Biological Sciences at Seoul National University. His research focuses on microbial physiology, particularly in the areas of glucose signaling in bacteria, bacterial pathogenesis, and the exploration of new bacterial signaling systems. He also investigates the regulation of global gene expression in bacteria. Seok's work includes the study of PTS proteins in E. coli and V. vulnificus, as well as the regulation of carbon catabolite repression in gram-negative bacteria. His research has been published in several scientific journals, including Frontiers in Microbiology and the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. Yeong-Jae Seok is a researcher at Seoul National University with a focus on molecular mechanisms in bacterial physiology and microbiology. His work explores the structural and functional aspects of bacterial signaling systems, particularly within the phosphoenolpyruvate:sugar phosphotransferase system (PEP:PTS) and its role in glucose transport and catabolite repression. He investigates the interactions between key proteins such as enzyme I, HPr, and IIA Glucose, as well as their regulatory roles in metabolic pathways. Additionally, his research examines the impact of gut microbiota on host metabolism, including the effects of antibiotics on insulin resistance and gastric microbiota composition. His studies also address the regulation of bacterial virulence factors and the role of alarmone (p)ppGpp in stress response.
