Regular biography

Kim Joy is an Associate Professor in the Department of BIO at Seoul National University. Her research focuses on membrane biology, particularly the mechanisms of signal peptidase-mediated processing and maturation of secretory, membrane, and viral proteins, as well as the targeting of mitochondrial inner membrane proteins. She leads the Laboratory of Membrane Biology and is affiliated with the School of Biological Sciences. Her work includes studies on the role of non-catalytic subunits in signal peptidase complexes and the dynamics of mitochondrial protein targeting. Kim has published extensively in journals such as the Journal of Cell Biology and the Journal of Membrane Biology.
