Regular biography
Hyun Youbong is an Associate Professor in the Department of BIO at Seoul National University. His research focuses on evolutionary biology, genomics, molecular biology, plant sciences, and reproduction, particularly the evolutionary divergence of reproductive strategies in plants. Using the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana and its relatives, his work explores genome and system evolution that enables the versatility of plant reproduction. Hyun earned his B.S. and Ph.D. from Seoul National University and completed postdoctoral training at the School of Biological Sciences, Seoul National University, and the Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding Research. He has published extensively in leading journals such as Science, Plant Physiology, and Nature Genetics.
