Dr Alexandra Zimmermann is an Associate Professor at the University of Oxford, Department of Biology. She is the founding Chair of the IUCN SSC Human-Wildlife Conflict & Coexistence Specialist Group and leads the Conflict & Coexistence research theme at the Wildlife Conservation Research Unit. Her research focuses on human-wildlife conflict and conservation conflict resolution, with a particular emphasis on hidden social causes of conflict, community-led solutions, and stakeholder dialogue. She has worked across various socio-political contexts and has led the development of the global IUCN Guidelines on Human-Wildlife Conflict and Coexistence. She also teaches a Master’s module on HWC in the Geography Department and supervises doctoral researchers. Dr Zimmermann has trained numerous researchers, practitioners, and government staff globally through executive education courses on human-wildlife conflict and conflict resolution.
