Regular biography
Min Chen is a Professor of Physics, Emeritus at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, affiliated with the Physics department. His research has focused on reverse Cherenkov Radiation (RCR) in left-handed materials since 2003. He has contributed to the field of particle physics, including work on the discovery of the J-particle in 1974 and Gluons in 1979. Chen has also explored the properties of Weak Bosons and developed new mathematical methods for high-energy particle collisions. His research includes the theoretical prediction and experimental demonstration of backward Cherenkov radiation in electron beams, as well as the design of meta-materials for RCR. He has received several awards, including the IEEE International Electromagnetism Application Conference Best Paper award in 2010 and the European Physics Society Prize for the discovery of Gluons in 1995.
