Wit Busza

Wit Busza is the Francis L. Friedman Professor of Physics, Emeritus, at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, in the Department of PHY. His research focuses on experimental particle physics, particularly in the study of multiparticle production in high-energy collisions. He is known for his pioneering work on hadron-nucleus collisions and for leading the PHOBOS experiment, which investigated matter at extreme energy density and temperature. Busza's contributions include the discovery of participant scaling and the development of the PHOBOS research program at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. His work has significantly advanced the understanding of the Quark-Gluon Plasma and its evolution into ordinary matter.
