Regular biography
Rodolfo Rosales is a Professor Emeritus of Applied Mathematics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, affiliated with the MATH department. His research interests include fluid dynamics, nonlinear waves, numerical pde, and material sciences. He received his Licenciado degree from the Universidad Nacional de Cordoba in 1973 and his PhD from Caltech in 1977 under the supervision of Gerald B. Whitham. Following postdoctoral work at Caltech, he held positions at U.C. Berkeley and the Courant Institute before joining MIT in 1980. He served as Chair of the Applied Mathematics Committee from 2002 to 2006.
