Regular biography
Alexander Postnikov is a professor in the Department of Mathematics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His research interests include enumerative and algebraic combinatorics. Postnikov received his M.S. in mathematics from Moscow State University in 1993 and his Ph.D. in applied mathematics from MIT in 1997, under the supervision of Richard Stanley. He joined the MIT faculty in 2001 as an instructor, later becoming an associate professor by 2006 and a professor in 2014. His distinctions include the Solomon Buchsbaum AT&T research fund, the Sloan fellowship, an NSF Career Award, and the Edmund F. Kelly research award. In 2018, he will give an invited address at ICM 18 in Rio de Janeiro.
