Richard Melrose

Richard Melrose is a Simons Professor of Mathematics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, affiliated with the MATH department. He is a specialist in Partial Differential Equations and differential geometry. Melrose received the Bôcher Prize of the AMS in 1984 for his work in diffraction theory and scattering theory. He was elected Fellow of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences in 1986 and received a Guggenheim fellowship in 1992. He served as Chair of the Graduate Student Committee from 1996 to 1999 and Chair of the Pure Mathematics Committee from 1999 to 2002.
