Regular biography
Davesh Maulik is a Professor of Mathematics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, affiliated with the MATH department. His research focuses on algebraic geometry, particularly moduli spaces of geometric objects such as algebraic curves or sheaves, and their structural properties. His work explores connections with mathematical physics, symplectic geometry, and representation theory. Maulik is recognized for computing the Donald-Thomas invariants, partial solutions to the Tate conjecture, and contributions to Hilbert Schemes and knot invariants. He completed his doctoral work at Princeton University in 2007 under Rahul Pandharipande and joined the MIT Mathematics Faculty in July 2015. He is the Levinson Professor of Mathematics as of July 2024.
