Tom Leighton

Tom Leighton is a Professor of Applied Mathematics and a member of the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) at MIT. His research focuses on theoretical computer science and combinatorics. He is also the CEO of Akamai Technologies, where he serves on the Board of Directors. Leighton has published extensively on algorithms, cryptography, and distributed computing, and has held numerous patents in content delivery and Internet protocols. He has received several honors for his work, including induction into the National Inventors Hall of Fame and the IEEE John von Neumann Medal. He has also contributed significantly to STEM education through initiatives like the Akamai Technical Academy and the Akamai Foundation.
