Xiaomin Ouyang

Xiaomin Ouyang is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). She received her Ph.D. degree in Information Engineering from The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2023, advised by Prof. Guoliang Xing, and co-advised by Prof. Jianwei Huang. Her research interests include Networking and Computer Systems, with a focus on building AI-powered mobile and IoT systems. She has experience in deploying real-world IoT systems for monitoring digital biomarkers of Alzheimer's Disease in a clinical trial. She received the ACM MobiSys 2023 Best Paper Award and ACM SIGBED China Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award.

Xiaomin Ouyang is a researcher in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at HKUST, focusing on Embedded AI, AI for Health, IoT, Mobile Computing, and Cyber-Physical Systems. His work explores federated learning systems for human activity recognition, multi-modal federated learning for Alzheimer's disease monitoring, and the integration of LLMs in sensor data processing. He also investigates optimization for federated learning in 6G networks and the design of mobile ToF systems for high-resolution sensing. His research emphasizes cross-platform federated learning and benchmarking LLMs in sensor processing, contributing to the development of intelligent systems for health and IoT applications.
