Long Chen

Long Chen is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). His research focuses on Vision and Graphics, Artificial Intelligence, with specific interests in Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Multimedia, and Natural Language Processing. Before joining HKUST, he was a postdoctoral research scientist in the Digital Video and Multimedia (DVMM) Lab at Columbia University. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Zhejiang University in 2020. His work aims to develop efficient vision systems capable of understanding complex visual scenes with explainable, robust, and universal capabilities. He has served as an Area Chair or Senior Program Committee member at several international conferences.

His research also addresses challenges in few-shot learning, federated learning, and multi-agent reinforcement learning, emphasizing the integration of semantic and visual information for improved performance in multimedia tasks.
