Kai Chen is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. His research interests include Networking and Computer Systems, with a focus on Data Center Networking, Machine Learning Systems, and Privacy-preserving Computing. He is the Director of the intelligent Networking and Systems Lab (iSING Lab) and the WeChat-HKUST Joint Lab for Artificial Intelligence Technology (WHAT Lab). Prof. Chen received his BS/MS degrees from the University of Science and Technology of China in 2004/2007 and his PhD from Northwestern University in 2012, all in Computer Science. His work has been published in top venues such as SIGCOMM, NSDI, OSDI, and TON. He is also involved in academic leadership roles, including Steering Committee Co-Chair of the Asia-Pacific Workshop on Networking (APNet).
