Gary Shueng-Han Chan

Dr. Gary Shueng-Han Chan is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. His research focuses on Networking and Computer Systems, with interests in Smart sensing and IoT, Cloud and fog/edge AI, Indoor positioning and mobile computing, Video/user/data analytics and mining, and IT entrepreneurship and technology transfer. He has co-founded and transferred his research results to several startups, which have received local and international recognition. Additionally, he has been recognized for his contributions to the fight against COVID-19, receiving the Hong Kong Chief Executive's Commendation for Community Service in 2020. He is also affiliated with the Innovation, Policy and Entrepreneurship Thrust of HKUST(GZ) and serves on the Board of Hong Kong Logistics and Supply Chain MultiTech R&D Center (LSCM).

S.-H. His publications highlight challenges and approaches in large-scale P2P media streaming, as well as methods for improving data confidentiality and network topology inference. His research bridges theoretical advancements with practical applications in smart sensing and IoT systems.
