Jingao XU

Jingao XU is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at The University of Hong Kong (HKU). His research interests include Mobile and Edge Computing; Embodied and Embedded AI; Drone-based Autonomous Systems; and Cyber-Physical Systems. Prior to joining HKU, he was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Carnegie Mellon University. He received both his Ph.D. (2022) and B.E. (2017) degrees with highest honors from Tsinghua University. His works have appeared in top system and mobile computing venues such as NSDI/EuroSys, MobiCom/MobiSys/SenSys, ICCV/CVPR, with industrial deployments demonstrating practical impact.

Xu's work explores innovative solutions for real-time collaborative visual SLAM, wireless localization, and drone navigation systems. His publications include topics such as edge-assisted semantic visual SLAM, WiFi-based localization using spatial gradients, and multi-UAV collaborative scheduling for wildfire suppression. Xu also investigates the integration of vision and radio signals for indoor localization, as well as the use of event cameras for mobile embodied perception. His research emphasizes the development of robust and efficient systems for dynamic environments.
