Ed Xuekui WU

Professor Ed Xuekui WU is a Chair Professor of Biomedical Engineering and holds the Lam Woo Professorship in Biomedical Engineering at The University of Hong Kong. He joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2003. Prior to this, he was an Associate Professor of Radiology and Biomedical Engineering at Columbia University, where he led the NMR Microimaging Laboratory. His research interests include biomedical engineering, medical imaging, MRI, deep learning, neuroimaging, and neuroscience. He is the founding Director of the interdisciplinary Laboratory of Biomedical Imaging and Signal Processing at HKU and has served in various leadership roles within the university. His current work focuses on MRI physics, data acquisition, and image reconstruction algorithms, as well as the study of brain circuits and functions using advanced imaging techniques.

Ed X Wu Lam Woo is a Chair Professor of Biomedical Engineering at The University of Hong Kong, specializing in MRI Physics, MRI Engineering, Deep Learning, and Neuroscience. His research focuses on advancing MRI techniques for neural tissue characterization, including diffusion kurtosis imaging and diffusion tensor imaging, to improve the detection and analysis of neurological and cardiac conditions. He also explores the integration of deep learning in MRI for enhanced image segmentation and analysis. His work includes developing low-cost, ultra-low-field MRI systems and investigating the role of MRI in understanding brain development, disease, and injury.
